Descriptions:

The Aerospace Structures and Materials Lab (ASML) at Oklahoma State University is inviting applications for an immediate funded PhD student position on a multi-year research project, with enrollment expected in Spring 2026. Successful candidate will be supported through waived tuition, health insurance, monthly stipend and PhD student fellowship.

The successful candidate will be responsible for

• Develop scaled modeling methods for composite structures using multiscale modeling and GPU/CPU high-performance computing.

• Publish research outcomes in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.

• Present research findings to collaborators and sponsoring agencies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related field (M.S. degree preferred).

• Background in solid mechanics and composite structures is preferred.

• Experience with Python or C++ programming (CUDA) for finite element analysis; experience with Abaqus FEA is a plus.
