The Aerospace Structures and Materials Lab (ASML) at Oklahoma State University is inviting applications for 1-2 immediate funded PhD student positions on a multi-year research project, with enrollment expected as early as Spring 2026. Successful candidates will be supported through waived tuition, health insurance, monthly stipend and PhD student fellowship.
The successful candidates will be responsible for
Developing scaled modeling methods for composite structures using multiscale modeling and GPU/CPU high-performance computing.
Publishing research outcomes in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
Presenting research findings to collaborators and sponsoring agencies.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related field (M.S. degree preferred).
Background in solid mechanics and composite structures is preferred.
Experience with Python or C++ programming (CUDA) for finite element analysis; experience with Abaqus FEA is a plus.
